Valeria Codara was born in Bergamo in 1981. She gradueted in Sociology, with a dissertation on the role of political and social change that art holds.
She is studying at the Accademy of Fine Arts “Carrara” in Bergamo. She had not a formal training in liberal arts apart from various courses and workshops.
In November 2011 she presented the performance and installation “PINS | Collective Plasters” in MITICI, a festival for young artists organized by Fondazione Milano with the Region of Lombardy and the Province of Milan. “Pins” was also presented at Area 2.0 Metropolis a space of the Italian Film Archive Foundation and in the collective exhibition COLOURS (WHITE) at the gallery Heart of Vimercate (Monza).
In 2012 exposed, at the TRIENNALE MILANO durung the collective exhibition “MIO”, a project of public art realized with Marta Griso “IGLOO ERRANTI for urban pilgrims”.
In November, during the festival “IN NECESSITA’ VIRTU’–DISABILITY AND ART” she presented the installation “LIKE AN ELEPHANT INTO A GLASSWARE” about the disability topic. In 2013 she realized the work “RED PAPER PATTERN”, an installation dedicated to Gressoney women’s traditional red dress for the groupe exhibition “Textile Art/design” in Valle d’Aosta. In August 2013 she attended a course about ART UTIL by Tania Bruguera at the SALZBURG INTERNATIONAL SUMMER ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS . In September 2013, she joined the summer residence “Manufatto in Situ” with the work “E QUI MI SON FERMATO” an artistic project connected to people of Cancelli, a village in the Umbrian mountains of Central Italy. In August 2014 she partecipated to the artistic Residence at the. International Waldkunst Zentrum for
the INTERNATIONAL FOREST ART PATH – “Art Biotope” in Darmstadt, Germany. In April 2015 she realized the work “DANCE SURRENDER” a performance presented in the group exhibition “DECIPHER THE WAR” for the Foundation Bergamo for History.
